2016 International Student Rides
New International Student Visitors get Insiders Tour of Melbourne by Bike
This April The City of Melbourne will again fund a series of life-changing bike tours for International Students. Now in its 5th year, the program has set the course for many international students by providing a warm welcome and knowledge base on how to navigate the streets of their new home – by bike!
The program provides four training and tour sessions, meeting at Melbourne's beating heart, Federation Square. The students will revise or learn basic bike handling and safety skills, learn the rules and customs of the Melbourne roads and set off on a curated tour taking in places of interest and value for young students.
All of this will happen from the seat of Melbourne's famous Blue Bikes, provided by project partners Melbourne Bike Share. Program participants will also learn how to hire and use the bikes, setting them up for a seamless use of the public transport system.
Each tour is conducted by AustCycle qualified bicycle training experts and is hosted by a local bike loving student, to provide the International students with all the insider tips on how to make the most out of Melbourne's ever growing café, food, and music culture, not to mention the nightlife!
To top it off, all ride participants will be invited to a follow up celebration ride, finishing up with a picnic and FREE admission to either an AFL game at Etihad stadium or an A-League match at AAMI park!
This exciting program kicks off in April, registration is essential!
