Maribyrnong Shared Path
The Maribyrnong River Trail is a popular path for walkers and bike riders. The Trail is usually referred to as a shared use path but it is not consistently signed as such, causing confusion for some for path users. We will be running a behaviour change campaign for the City of Maribyrnong over one week in May to encourage dialogue between path users and also collect feedback from users to assist in path improvements.
On Friday 12th and 19th May from 3.45-5.45 we will be encouraging path users into a 'Slow Space'. These community engagement sessions will encourage a more harmonious environment on the path by promoting understanding between different users.
Participants in the slow space will be asked to come up with ways they could change their own behaviour and work with people who use a different mode to come up with solutions together. Not only will they get to experience the path from someone else's point of view, they'll get a free cupcake!
On Saturday 13th May from 10am-1pm, we will be surveying path users to find out how they use the path and collect suggestions for improvements. This info will be taken into account when improvements to the path are considered by council.
More information about Council is available via MCC website or MCC Facebook.
